Here it is! The award all street machiners covet. The winner scores a $15,000 cheque from Valvoline and gets their name engraved on the iconic SMOTY trophy, which is enough to get any self-respecting car builder on the tools, but the real value is that Street Machine of the Year is decided entirely by you. No politics, no controversy, no BS – just automotive democracy at its purest.

How it works

The 16 finalists are chosen by a ballot of Street Machine staff and contributors. To be eligible, cars must have been featured in one of the past 12 issues of Street Machine and must have been primarily built in Australia. Contrary to popular opinion, being a cover car does not automatically guarantee you a spot in SMOTY. The finalists can include everything from pure street cars to customs, elite show cars, pro streeters and more. The final winner is up to you!

What you win
